A Good Yarn

From May to June 2025, Bloomin’ Buds worked with communities across BD10 to create plaits of fabric, to be wound into a 3 metre by 3 metre giant ball of yarn! Celebrating the textile industry of Bradford, A Good Yarn, saw over 2,500 Bradfordians come together to put together this creation.

The project came from artist Luke Jerram with support from Bradford 2025. The ball rolled through the streets of BD10 in July and then took to the streets of Bradford City Centre. It now lives at the Bradford Industrial Museum. Alongside the Giant ball, The Broken Orchestra, spoke to different community members to learn about the fabric they brought into the plaits and the connection they had to the project, to create a beautiful soundscape - listen below.

A massive thank you to all the community groups who brought in fabric, spent time plaiting and sewing to make this project happen!
